I have decades of experience in the UNIX field (programming and system administration, also from big systems) as well as in the InterNet. Since 1994 I operate UNIX Web servers and other UNIX services. The servers had to be partly high availability and had >20 millions accesses per month. All services in the Web field are well known to me, in particular CGI programming. Already as student I had experience in the computer center of the University Clausthal as programmer and consultant, afterwards I worked 2 years at the University of Münster as software developer in the computer center (development of a LAN WAN gateway). Later I was UNIX administrator at the Nixdorf AG, München and Siemens AG. Beside specialized courses I trained with my own interest in the Internet and looked always at the new technologies and their application. So I could offer always valuable pilot work. In October 2000 at Apptime GmbH I worked as programmer and Director of Advanced services for high availability solutions with multimedia monitoring.

After June 2001 I took a place at the Hypovereinsbank.

I changed at the beginning of 2002 into the system administration in the UNIX field with General Electric Compunet (now Computacenter AG & CO oHG) and administered the computer centers of BMW AG. The main part was administration of several hundreds of Sun mainframes, inclusive clusters. I developed many programs to monitor the systems and automate the daily tasks.

Within Cyclades/Avocent i could update my software development knowledge, especially with embedded Linux systems and gather extended know how in Out of Band Technology.

I concepted realized and documented bigger projects for customer specific software solutions. The customers are vary satisfied with the solutions.

    Specific solutions for customers:

  • Integration of Cyclades terminal servers into the communications between EMC devices and modems for JP Morgan Chase Bank. The communication programms with realizing of hardware flow control and auto speed change were devoped in C and run on Cyclades ACS.

  • Development of administration and monitoring tools for "intelligent racks" with central administartion on Cyclades APM for the spanish government. The solution uses hardware units of EMKA and are based on SNMP communication between Cyclades AlterPath Manager and the EMKA units (mostly shell scripts).

  • Development and test production of ZIM (Cyclades ZIS Monitoring System), a Network Management Systems (NNM), based on Cyclades AlterPath HP Openview Integrator.

As NNM was used ZIS from Leutek, one of the world wied leading NNM.

ZIM allows IT administrators to securely access, diagnose and restore disconnected IT assets using Cyclades OOBI products (serial console, KVM over IP, power control appliances, service processor managers and server blades) from within their ZIM window or other NNMs. Via ZIS the NNM views can transparently transformed to other NNM like HP Openview.

The ZIM eliminates the need for two separate management consoles by providing a single interface to manage IT devices either through the inband network or the OOBI network. Using the integration module, administrators can rigth-click on disconnected IT asset icons, which appear in "red" instead of their normal color within the Network Node Manager. This action opens a direct out-of-band connection to the disconnected asset through the AlterPath system and allows the administrator to quickly diagnose and restore the asset.

  • Installation of a NNM/System Managementsystem within Cyclades intranet for monitoring and reporting in inhouse and OOBI. A Cyclades Alterpath Manager (APM) was used to montior diverse system, OOBI, network devices and racks inclusive analysis of colsole messages of the to the APM connected devices (ACS, KVM, Blades, ...). Management system was Hobbit Monitor (optimized version of Big Brother Monitors).
